Joe Ageyo joins Nation Media Group as Editorial Director Broadcasting, a newly created position designed to make media stations more competitive.

Joe, who resigned from more or less a similar position, but with a more extensive portfolio from Royal Media Services, will be in charge of the editorial function of NMG’s broadcast operations in Kenya across multimedia platforms.

The appointment of Joe Ageyo as Editorial Director for Broadcasting takes effect from 1st April 2022, announced Nation Media Group CEO Stephen Gitagama through an internal memo.

According to Mr. Gitagama, Joe Ageyo will be part of the leadership and will directly participate in developing the Editorial strategy of the Nation Media Group.

“Joe Will be in charge of the editorial functions of NMG’s broadcast operations in Kenya across multimedia platforms. He will report directly to the editor-in-chief with a dotted reporting relationship to the Executive Director – Transformation,” the Memo says.

Joe Ageyo started his career as a reporter at KTN.

Ageyo started his media career as an intern at government-owned station KBC TV, where he worked for 18 months without pay. But the process was worth it. He joined KTN IN 2000 as a news reporter focusing on environmental stories.

Joe Ageyo, who previously worked at KTN as Managing Editor and at NTV as Head of News Production, returns at NMG Editorial Director Broadcasting at a time when the business segment is struggling to find a footing in the highly competitive TV and radio industries.
