Murang’a Senator Kang’ata has dismissed Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici’s claims that she was shown disrespect by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party officials.
Ngirici told the public that she was no longer a member of the UDA party, alleging that the party officials were favoring Governor Anne Waiguri.
She claimed that UDA party top organs had asked her to drop her ambitions for the Kirinyaga County top job in favor of Governor Anne Wiguru.
Speaking on Citizen TV, Kang’ata denied Ngirici’s claims for her decamping from UDA, arguing that no one summoned her in a bid to persuade her to shelve her Kirinyaga gubernatorial ambitions.
Which is the direct opposite of what Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici told the party of Kirinyaga during a campaign rally in Kirinyaga County.
Senator Kang’ata said, “As to the reason she gave they are not true no one has approached her to drop her bid but even if indeed there are people who did that, she had the liberty to say NO and proceed to seek nominations to fight with Governor Waiguru on a free and fair nomination.”
“You cannot control really how people perceive you or the decisions they will make. I am very aware that Ngirici is a very sober leader who is able to make her own decisions,” Kang’ata added.
The senator insisted that Ngirici’s decision to leave the UDA party was by choice.
“It’s on her own account she decided to vacate UDA despite spending so much time in building the party, there’s nothing we can do,” Kang’ata said.
Ngirici has maintained that she will go for the county’s top job as an independent candidate.
