ODM Chief Raila Odinga, accompanied by his wife Mama Ida Odinga, received a warm welcome in Nyeri.

Raila kicked off his two-day tour of Nyeri County; he received a warm welcome from the people of Nyeri, led by the elders and traditional dancers at the Kabiruini Grounds.

Kikuyu women elders gave Ida Odinga a Kikuyu nickname, Nyawira, to mean a hard-working woman.

ODM leader takes “Azimio la Umoja” to Nyeri County, and he is expected to meet Kikuyu elders, different professional groups and the youths.

The entire leadership of Nyeri County was present at the Kabiruini grounds, starting with the Governor of Nyeri, Mutahi Kahiga, his deputy Caroline Karugu.

MPs Kanini Kega (Kieni), Babu Owino (Embakassi), Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town), Ndaragwa’s Jeremiah Kioni, Maoka Maore (Igembe North).

Other leaders who accompanied Raila Odinda include Senator James Orengo, Governors Anyang Nyong’o (Kisumu), former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Francis Kimemia of Nyandarua and Governor Ndiritu Muriithi of Laikipia.

“Tano Tena” hitmaker Ben Githae Joyce wa Mama and Jose Gatutura were among those selected to entertain the ODM leader.
