Nairobi West Hospital Launches Emergency Evacuation Helipad.

Nairobi West hospital has taken emergency evacuation a notch higher. The hospital has today, Wednesday, 24th November, launched the first-ever 24 hours customized Helipad. 

With the new Helipad, the hospital’s emergency team will focus on faster evacuation procedures within the country and East Africa region.

The demand for a faster emergency evacuation is high due to the growing population within the country and across the East Africa region. Nairobi West Hospital seeks to boost its response to a medical emergency.

Millywajesus and Husband Kabi were present during the launch; a post on her Instagram read, “Congratulations to @naiwesthospital as they launched an emergency evacuation helipad today. One of its kind in the region.”

According to the Nairobi West Medical Officer, Dr Andrew Kanyi, the move will benefit Kenyans and international patients caught in emergencies that need immediate and faster medical attention.

Reports have indicated that countries across the globe are working on ways to strengthen emergency medical response. It means that Nairobi West Hospital is headed in the right direction.

 Dr Kanyi said, “This air ambulance can pick anyone from anywhere in the country and outside and right here at Nairobi West where we have a 45-bed ICU facility just two floors below the helipad where the patient will receive immediate attention.”

The hospital’s Helipad is located on the rooftop of the 7th floor in its main branch located in Nairobi West.

Dr Kanyi said, “Earlier plans were to fully stock the air clinic with oxygen to better handle patients who need to be on life support machine while being transported to the hospital.”
