She has waited for this day since the impeachment of Mike Sonko in 2020.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) on November 16, 2021.
The Swearing-in of Anne Kananu came just days after the Nairobi court threw out the petition filed by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to stop the swearing-in of Anne Kananu as the new governor.
Ann took the oath of office in a ceremony that Judge Lilliam Mutembi oversaw.
She now officially takes over the running of the county government of Nairobi, and she is expected to have a good working relationship with the Nairobi Metropolitan Boss General Badi.
