While in a campaign train in Mount Kenya, Deputy President called on Mount Governors to stop forcing ODM leader Raila Odinga on the residents.

The Governors who have declared their support for ODM leader Raila Odinga have called on the relevant authorities to investigate the matter, saying DP Ruto’s language was unnecessary.

DP Ruto has been traversing the country to drum up support for his bottom-up model, and he was back to Mount Kenya to preach the same gospel.

But this time around, something went wrong, which has not been received well by most of the Mount Kenya Governors, who have already joined the Azimio la Umija team led by the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Addressing a rally in Meru, the DP said, “People like Kiraitu should stop playing with us.”

DP Ruto’s words and calling of names were not well received by the leadership of Mount Kenya, thus compelling the region’s Chair Governor Francis Kimemia to release a statement.

The statement read in part, “We urge all those seeking elective political positions to uphold tolerance, civility, integrity and the Rule of Law and we urge all Institutions responsible for national cohesion, rule of law and security to scale up surveillance and take appropriate and immediate legal action without fear or favour.”

“The latest unwarranted attacks targeted Governors Kiraitu Murungi of Meru County and James Nyoro of Kiambu County, and came soon after similar attacks on Governor Francis Kimemia of Nyandarua County at Magumu,” Governor Francis Kimemia added.
