Stephen Omollo Takes Over As New CEO for Plan International.

Kenyan Stephen Omollo has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Plan International.

The appointment of Mr Stephen Omollo as New CEO for Plan International was made public by Ms Gunvor Kronman, who is the chair of the members’ Assembly and International Board of Plan International.

Stephen is expected to replace the current organization’s interim Chief Executive Officer, Mr Raj Noovi, in early 2022.

The Chair of Plan International, Ms Gunvor Kronman, has described the incoming CEO Mr Omollo as an influential advocate for children’s rights and equality for the girl child.

Ms Kronman said, “We have been excited by his record of achievement, as well as his deep experience in advocacy, international development and humanitarian response.”

Stephen has previously held senior leadership positions in the humanitarian and development sectors with several organizations, including Red Crescent Movement, World Vision International, Red Cross International, and Commonwealth International.

Mr. Stephene Omollo has previously served as Vice President and Regional Director for East Africa for World Vision International.

He has served as Chief for Humanitarian Diplomacy and Global Director of Partnership and Resource Development in Geneva for IFRC.

At IFRC, he also served in other capacities including, Chief Diplomatic Officer and as Permanent Representative and Head of African Union Office in Addis Ababa.

Plan International is active in more than 75 countries across the globe.

Plan International has a labor force of about 10 000 staff worldwide.

Mr. Omollo expressed excitement about joining Plan International. 

He said, “I am deeply inspired by the network of passionate and highly engaged champions of children’s rights and equality for girls, and grateful for the opportunity to accompany these employees and front-line workers to advance and advocate for positive change.”
