I tell the story of Kamene Goro and Jalang’o because it is a story of friendship and why it is important for everyone to build good relationships.
Let me pause a question here. How often do you surprise your best friend with a gift?
Success in all areas of your life is determined by the kind of friends that you keep. You will never know how far you can walk until you meet that one friend.
You will never know how much you can achieve until you partner with that one friend.
True friendship is built on honesty and respect.
Some once said, if you walk with nine successful people, you will be the tenth successful person.
Develop a culture of adding value to your friends.
How can you add value to people? Adding value to people may not require so much effort from you. Make someone’s idea better, and they will value your friendship for the rest of their lives.
People like people who add value to them, people who impact their lives, people who treat them right.
Friends who value them even when they make mistakes. Tolerance is a reflection of value; it enables you to attract good into your life and the lives of those around you.
When you value people, it means you believe in their potential. It means you know they can succeed and that you trust them.
Building a good relationship requires that you treat people as individuals rather than as a group. But, first, you must know that people are different.
Listen to everyone.
Adding value to people only means that you are adding value to yourself. This process only means so much to you as a person.
