Betty Kyallo said, “My dreams scare me sometimes….” You are headed in the right direction to have chosen to read this important article because this is not just about Betty, but more so about YOU.
I say this without fear of contradiction. Your dreams must be BIG enough to scare you sometimes because it is the big dreams that bring about change.
It is the big dreams that push you to do more. It is the big dreams that drive you out of your comfort zones.
I was going through my Facebook page when I saw a picture of the celebrated media personality Betty Kyallo seated in a new Range Rover with this caption, “My dreams scare me sometimes.” And I said to myself, why don’t I write something about big dreams.
Her dream scared her because it was a big one. She wanted to own a Range Rover. Those who know the price and the maintenance cost of this car will tell you that this is not a small dream.
If your dreams have never scared you, then you have never really dreamt. What is it that you so much want? Write it down on paper, and ask yourself, is this scary?
Betty Kyallo knew that she could not afford to dream small. And by the way, why would you dream of owning just a tiny studio apartment or small car when there are other better houses or cars?
Life throws to your way only what is achievable, and this is just how the universe works. Yes, it may be scary, just like Betty Klyallo’s dream, but the truth is that it is achievable.
Let’s answer these questions because this is where your journey begins.
Do your dreams scare you sometimes?
How big is your dream?
What is that big thing that you’ve always wanted to own?
Do you have a plan and a timeline for getting it?
One thing I know about dreams is that they must be big. I don’t know what you think, but I believe the big dreams separate high achievers from low achievers.
There is nothing like an average achiever. I will talk more about this in the next post. Sign up for more at semakenya.com
If your dream has never scared you, then you’ve not started to dream yet. Do something about this.
The best way to test yourself is to walk into a car yard and ask to see what you’ve always wanted to own, sit in your dream car, trust if it is big enough, it will be so scary.
Alternatively, you can go for a house hunt, visit some of the best and most serene places, get inside those beautiful apartments and mansions.
Go around the house, touch the walls, feel the texture, and ask about the price.
Remember: Dress well for this. Someone said, “Dress to kill.”
A stretched goal and dream are more challenging. It sends you to the edge, to a point you will feel like giving up.
Betty Kyallo’s “My dreams scare me sometimes” pushed her to work even harder. You, too, must shoot for the moon.
To reach your next target.
Start by setting goals that will make you stretch, challenging goals, big goals.
This year’s most important phrase is Betty Kyallo’s “My dreams scare me sometimes.”
What comes to your mind when you think about Betty Kyallo?
What I did with my dreams will surprise you.
I went to one of the car yards along Ngong road and asked to be taken around. I loved what I saw, I sat in a Range Rover, and it was scary. But I said this to myself; one day, I will own one just like this.
