Kenya Railways launched on the 4th of January 2021, the new night passenger travel will be from both ends of Nairobi and Mombasa through the Standard Guage Railway (SGR).
Both trains will leave at exactly 9 pm and will be expected to arrive at their destination at exactly 3 am the next day. Meaning, the new night passenger services will be exempted from the nationwide night curfew which has since been extended until the 12th of March 2021.
While speaking to Citizen TV, Kenya Railways Managing Director Mr Philip Mainga stated that the night passenger service was occasioned by the increasing demand for travel.
